Reggae Inna Dance Hall Style was published by Black Star, Finland in 1984. It is a classic book, focussing on the Volcano Hi Power crew, containing many interviews and black & white and colour photos. The Authors were Tero Kaski & Pekka Vuorinen and gathered the interviews and photos on a trip to Jamaica in 1983. Sadly Tero passed away in 2001, leaving Pekka to revisit his Volcano archive and expand the original ode to dancehall’s golden age. The result has to be one of the most crucial reggae books so far.

Volcano Revisited by Tero Kaski & Pekka Vuorinen (Eronen, Finland. 2011) is a total triumph. The numerous pictures are wonderful and the vast majority in colour. The design is very stylish in a tasteful way, adding to the enjoyment of the book. It is an expansion of the smaller original containing many rare or previously unpublished (in English) interviews, short essays on key artists and figures, label scans, flyers by Sassa (there is a chapter on his great work)- often for sounds I’ve never heard of, and a list of Volcano sound-tapes with full details and review provided by the Who Corked the Dance foundation sound-tape specialists Jayman and Andrew.

This book is a must for anyone who collects reggae books, enjoys looking at photos of the 80s Jamaican dancehall scene, loved Volcano tapes and is interested in this golden age of dancehall music and culture. I can’t commend or recommend it enough. Love it to bits.
