| I have a question for you guys:
Here on the board it says Tippatone - North London. But there is another Tippatone, right? The one Big Youth started on, I think they relocated to The Bronx. Am I right? And is there a connection between the two? |

| that's right, there was first a Jamaican sound called Tippertone. I just have one tape of theirs- Tippatone (JA) v Matador: 1978, and actually it's just one side- 30 or 40 mins and poor sound quality. I'd love to hear more tapes by them. I didn't know they relocated to the Bronx cheers mate |

| I did some research, and it turns out that the original Tippertone did relocate to The Bronx. The selector is called Jah Wise. Supposedly, this is the only sound who has Bob Marley on special. However, I would still like to know if there is any connection to the UK sound. Anyone?
Oh and Stephen, I would appreciate it immensly if you could post that tape you talked about, would very much like to hear it no matter the sound quality... |

| Oops, it seems I already had that Tippatone session, it was posted on Who Corks The Dance last year.
But if anyone has any other session with Tippatone, especially later ones, PLEASE post them! |

Very interesting interview:
http://www.reggaedirectory.com/artist/Jah-Wise.htm Yeah I think I did hear that. That interview is great- cheers. I'd love to hear a tape of one of thos Jazz clashes! crazy Alot of the UK sounds took names in tribute to the JA sounds, rather than because of a connection- examples are Volcano, Gemini, King Tubbys, Sir coxsone as well as Tippertone |
